Well, we’ve listed our top 5 must reads for each and every one of you girl bosses.
You are a Badass by Jen Sincero
If you need the inspiration to pick up a book, then start with this one. You won’t want to put it down and it will make you feel guilty for ever procrastinating starting a book in the first place. Sincero does a great job of walking you through each part of your life that could be standing in the way of your ultimate greatness. This book preaches self-responsibility and manifesting the life you believe in. If you think manifesting is cheesy, you might have a chance of thought after this book (we sure did). Through real life examples, “homework”, and a lot of lessons in loving yourself, Sincero will kick your ass into gear and make you responsible for reaching your dreams right. freaking. now.
Contagious by Jonah Berger
This book will get your left brain working overtime. Some things take off, others don’t…and sometimes it seems like there is no rhyme or reason. However, there’s more to vitality than you may think and this book leaves no stone unturned. Our favorite part of this work (not to give too much away) is the way it discusses using your connections, fans, friends, anything to make your idea take off. Whether you apply this book to a new business, potential dream, or even just taking more control of your personal life - you’ll learn valuable lessons on the power of a contagious idea.
Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg
Let your feminist flag fly! Sandberg will either make you damn proud to be a woman in Lean In, or feel like you let your womanhood down by not chasing after what you deserve. Sandberg forces you to really look at you life, personal and professional, and ask if you’re getting every single thing that you deserve. If you want to get real with yourself, this book is a great place to start. You might discover that you’ve been holding yourself back without even realizing it. Sandberg let’s you know that there actually aren’t any perks to being a wallflower and that you need to stand up for your rights and what you deserve. Hell yeah, you go girl.
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson
Did that title get your attention? Good. Look, you can’t live your best life possible you aren’t doing exactly what you want to do. It’s as simple as that. Manson reminds us that in order to make the most productive use of our time and energy we need to pour ourselves into whatever we find important and meaningful. However, don’t let the title mislead you…you won’t become a cold heartless bitch after giving this book a read. The overarching message us this book is just not giving a fuck about things that drain you or more “things” and instead, full-heartedly give a fuck about what your passionate about and adds value to your life.
Originals: How Non-Conformists Move the World by Adam Grant
If you need a little innovation inspiration, then this is the book for you. As Grant dives into well-know innovators and their ability to move the world, you’ll feel driven to make your own move in the world. Playing is safe is the easy route, but playing it safe does not cause everything to change. Do what scares you, don’t conform, follow your dream that your friends say is crazy, because at the end of the day, going against the grain is what makes the world a better place.
Now what? Stop reading this blog and start reading one of these books instead! We promise, it won’t hurt our feelings.
